Music Monday: Prophecies by Philip Glass

Listening to music is a big part of my writing process. So, today I’m starting a series of posts I’m calling Music Monday.

The first piece I want to share is Prophecies, by Philip Glass. Taken from the soundtrack of the film Koyaanisqatsi (1982), Prophecies is the longer version of the opening piece that shares the title of the film. As far as organ music goes, Prophecies has always struck me as one of the most powerful that I’ve ever heard and it has made the hair on my arms and neck stand on end more than once. Prophecies remains a go-to piece of music for when I want to write solemn, dramatic, and powerful scenes in my stories.
